The Holidays are HERE!

Well, we survived Spy Camp at the Franklin! It was a really fun night filled with scientific learning, an IMAX and then sleeping in the Sports Challenge exhibit! Definitly something we will do again and recommend to others :)
Thank goodness I had all of my things ready to go for the Ashland Craft Show today.
You can definitly feel that they holiday season has begun. I just love that I can provide people with really nice gifts that are first and formost affordable! In these economic times that is SO important! I originally began creating affordable, practical gifts when my son Stefan was still in school. He had so many therapists, teachers, etc. I wanted to make sure that I recognized each one of them but surely didn't want to break the bank either!
I make sure to shop around all year long to get the best bargains so that I can then pass them on to my customers!
Be sure to check out our Toys for Tots site

Ashland Church Craft Show

Well, I spent most of the evening finishing up my items for the Ashland church craft show. The craft show is this Saturday the 8th of November from 1-4pm. It was a great show last year, the people are all so nice, it was alot of fun!
I make lots of gifts ranging in price this year from $3.00 to about $10, perfect for teachers, co workers, or to have around the house for unexpected guests:)
I still have a little more to get together in the next couple of days. We are going to the Franklin Institute Spycamp Friday night (you sleep at the institute) so I need to have everything finished by then. The Ashland church is located on Evesham road in Cherry Hill incase you are looking for a good craft show to visit on Saturday!

Toys for Tots

Some very exciting news for Toni's Avon. This year we are supporting the Marines Toys for Tots program! Each year we choose a local charity to support and this year we will be collecting toys :)) There's nothing like being able to give back to the community, and at this time of year being able to help make a child smile is truly a gift!
We will have a drop box at our location, as well as during our open houses. If you would like to drop off a new toy, or we are specifically selling Bentley the Bear for a $15.00 donation, the bear will then be donated directly to Toys for Tots, please let me know! I am very excited about this new venture for Toni's Avon!

007 Quantum of Solice

I was up late last night watching some television (really bad tv actually) and on comes a commercial for the new Bond movie Quantum of Solice. I have seen many James Bond movies, some along time ago - so long that I don't really like to talk about it!! I am looking forward to going to see this, maybe simply looking for a night out! Anyway, you can still get in on Avon's incentive for this movie. When you purchase their new fragrance, Bond Girl, you will receive a FREE downloadable movie ticket for Quantum of Solice. Depending on where you go, this could be worth up to $8.00 or more! Not a bad deal :)
The fragrance is nice, I have worn it myself. Hopefully Avon will come out with partner products such as body lotion and/or shower gel, I like to layer my scents.

Batista Bomb

How many of you out there have boys who live for this WWE wrestling? I remember watching wrestling, or so they call it, on TV many, many years ago. Let me tell you it hasn't changed much since then! My 10 year old is just enthralled with this "staged" wrestling, toggling between Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown. He loves us to watch with him, and it is a true test of a parents love for their child! My husband took the boys to see WWE Summer Slam this summer in Wildwood, somehow I managed to be at home that weekend!!!
So what do I find combing through my Avon yesterday? WWE Mens watches! Oh my, what a PERFECT Christmas gift this is going to make! Unfortunatly for my son The Undertaker is NOT one of the choices but there is Batista, of the infamous Batista Bomb (no, I'm really not sure what that is either) and John Cena. Either one I am sure he will love.
You can find them in the Campaign 24 Avon brochure which will be coming out September 30 for your viewing pleasure!!

The Scents of the Season

Each year my husband gets a permit that allows him to drive his truck on the Avalon beach. It is a very novel thing to do, really. How many people do you know that actually drive along the beaches? I would be willing to say not many!
Yesterday held the beginnings of the noreaster, the surf was beginning to swell, the waves were crashing angrily along the coast. The winds were probably up to 30 miles an hour yesterday, it was an awesome sight. My youngest son said "A once in a lifetime" experience.
Now that the weather is cooling down and fall is in the air, I enjoy surrounding myself with the scents of the season. You know, pumpkin pie, candles, cinnamon potpouri. Even my Footworks products need to be season appropriate! So long Tropical Coconut - Avon's new Winter Spice Footworks has a wonderfully warm aroma, I just love it! Even the packaging is a warm fallish color!
Actually the color of the mums that I am planning on purchasing this weekend!
Happy Fall!

Letterboxing

Have you heard of Letterboxing? I hadn't until last year when I read about it in a Family Fun Magazine. Similar to Geocashing but not techy at all, people "plant" containers in various places that hold a small notebook, a rubberstamp and a pen. You need to go onto one of the letterboxing sites (letterboxing.org or atlasquest.org) to find clues to the different spots.
My boys and I went out the other day to do some letterboxing at the shore, there is something magical about the beach in September. I can't quite put my finger on it but it is certainly cool. We went to several places, one in particular was beautiful, an unprotected beach in Stone Harbor.
I think one other reason I hate to see summer go is that it is a reminder that another page in my kids lives has turned, another part of childhood magic fades away. I am so thankful that I am able to spend this time with them, honestly if it wasn't for my Avon business none of this would have been. Who knew selling lipstick would make for such wonderful memories!

September Days

I'm sitting here in my porch at the shore, it is a cool evening after a muggy hot September day. I hear the sounds of the crickets or whatever they happen to be, it is a wonderful sound.
I can hardly believe that summer is over, it goes quicker and quicker the older I get. Just tonight I passed an Acme and I saw piles of bright orange pumpkins outside of the store. Yes, Fall is on it's way - with all of it's golden splendors. Look into the latest Avon brochure to find a bounty of harvest delights. Jimmy the Light Up Scarecrow and the Harvest Floral Pumpkin Centerpiece are a few of my favorites.
You will even find a fun costume just for your pooch!!!

Happy Labor Day

Well, here we are at the end of the official summer season. You know the older I get the quicker time goes by, a bit disturbing actually!

So, here is the new Avon brochure and what do you think you will find inside? Christmas items! Yup, that's right, Christmas items already.

When I first began my Avon business I was a bit uneasy about having holiday items so early (being in a trendsetter district we are 2 brochures, or 1 month ahead of the rest of the crew) but now I understand the value. As a trendsetter representative we not only highlight new products first, we also have wayyyyyyy fewer backordered items. Backorders are a staple of the Avon business it seems, but we have few or no backorders, which comes in very handy around the holidays!

Unibrow

Being Italian my boys tend to have dark, course hair and the characteristic "Unibrow", or one continuous eyebrow! My older boys have their eyebrows waxed at the salon, which costs anywhere from $8.00 - $12.00, so when my 13 yr old needed to have his done I took him to Hair Cuttery. It cost $8.00 and they did a nice job! He looked really nice with "2" eyebrows instead of one! Well, not being all that familiar with the time frame that waxing takes to grow in, I was shocked at how quickly it grew back! Ok, now $8.00 is not going to break me but finding the time is my problem. I decided to give the SSS wax kit a try. It is incredibly easy to use, just microwave the wax in the container, apply and using the included strips - wax away your hair! It comes with 2 different sizes of applicators and a special after wax oil. Plus it costs about the same as 1 eyebrow wax at the salon and I'm thinking I may just get years of use out of this one kit! Very cool indeed!

What to do about the goooo

Everyone who has kids should be able to relate to this story. My 10 year old son goes to bed one night with this green slimy stuff that he got at his birthday party and falls asleep with it on his finger. During the night the green stuff turns liquidy and covers his sheets and his shirt to the point where I seriously thought they were ruined. What made him do that, who knows - kids are so unpredictable and do things we can never explain!

Anyway, the story continues with a spray bottle of Skin so soft bath oil. I took the shirt and sheets and sprayed them with a good amount of the oil and let it sit overnight. The next day I threw them into the wash and low and behold! It all came out!

Moral of the story, keep a bottle of Skin so soft oil handy, it's awesome at taking care of the goo!
